Customer Showcase: Pegasus Global Express (Thailand) Co., Ltd.

19/05/2017

Pegasus Global Express (Thailand) Co., Ltd. was established in September 2012 as the Thai subsidiary of Pegasus Global Express Co., Ltd, a logistics business headquartered in Tokyo. The company decided to enter the Thai market after requests from many Japanese companies operating in Thailand, predominantly manufacturers of automobiles and electrical industry products, along with trading companies. The company’s main services are international air and maritime transport, customs clearing, warehousing and domestic transport. They enjoy a good reputation with their customs clearing service in particular, and operate international transport services through collaboration with partner companies. Japanese clients make up 80% of their overall clients and they increased personnel substantially in 2016 with expansion of their business. Mr. Tetsuji Haioka, one of the company’s directors, handles staff deployment and the many skilled employees with rich experience and knowledge of specific sectors is one of the company’s strongest assets. He is renowned himself as a dedicated, skillful and trustworthy operative, going above and beyond when responding to customer queries and requests.

The company’s latest warehouse, established in August 2016, occupies approximately 2,100 sq.m. in Hemaraj Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate – Hemaraj ESIE in Rayong Province. Originating from a package contract including logistics services to be provided on site, their client company was already operating a factory in the same industrial estate. Soon, more requests for their services came from other companies and the warehouse reached full operation in less than six months. Mr. Haioka is now considering how to expand, with Hemaraj’s estate options a strong candidate to help their business grow.

While Hemaraj ESIE was chosen, Mr. Haioka explains, because it provides “the best location with easy access to all major destinations”, the decisive factor was the sense of security the services offer his company. He said that the functions and facilities of the industrial estates are very convenient, and that Hemaraj is a stable company with good performance, providing fast and courteous service for processing applications and registrations.

Though Mr. Haioka believes the Thai economy is currently at a standstill, particularly in the automotive industry, the company expects some recovery from late 2017, based on the Thai government’s series of policies for stimulating the economy, such as new investment promotion programs and industry cluster projects. Mr. Haioka is a supporter of the Trans-Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership (TPSEP) Agreement, as ease of logistics can stimulate the economy with the flow of goods. Eyeing future trends, the company has started preparing for expansion into new fields such as machinery, construction materials and food-related business, alongside plans to enter the markets of surrounding South-East Asian countries.
